Dr. Ilan Koren
ENT Specialist
Dr. Ilan Koren is an otorhinolaryngologist (ENT physician) who specializes in nose and sinus diseases at Merav Hospital. In 1989 he received a bachelor of life science degree from Ben Gurion University of the Negev and in 1992 he was awarded a doctor of medicine degree.
After graduating, Dr. Koren joined the Israeli Air Force’s medical service and at the same time started a residency in otorhinolaryngology. At the end of his training as an aviation physician, Dr. Koren continued an advanced aviation medicine training program at the School of Aerospace Medicine at Brooks Air Force Base, Texas. During that time, Dr. Koren engaged in basic research in the otology field and also participated in a fellowship program in an ENT department at the Wilford Hall military hospital in Lackland, Texas. In the IDF, Dr. Koren managed base clinics and finished his service as the commander of the Israeli Air Force Aviation Medicine and Physiology Center at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Since finishing his residency in 2004, Dr. Koren has been working as a senior rhinologist at the rhinology unit of Ichilov Hospital, and later at Beilinson Hospital. Within his training, Dr. Koren completed a master’s degree in healthcare systems administration from Ben Gurion University of the Negev.
Dr. Koren is a surgeon specializing in diseases of the nose, sinuses and sense of smell and is a member of the Israeli Society of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, the European Rhinologic Society and the American Rhinologic Society. He is also the chairman of the Department of Rhinology.
